Reminder to Check for Radon In Your Home
Posted on Nov 22, 2008 Comments (0)
Radon is a radioactive, invisible, odorless gas that occurs naturally in the soils of Minnesota and other part of the country. Thousands of Minnesota homes have potentially harmful levels of radon gas.
Radon is found at elevated levels in 1 in 15 homes across the U.S., but in Minnesota 1 in 3 homes have elevated radon levels. Major studies have indicated that exposure to elevated levels of radon causes lung cancer in humans. A National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report in February 1998 confirmed that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. A more recent EPA report released in June 2003 states that radon causes an estimated 20,000 lung cancer deaths each year.

I know that there are a few book clubs going in the neighborhood but ours is always up for new members and has been going now for four+ years. We’re back to meeting the first Monday of every month at a host’s home around 7pm and our selections are quite diverse (fiction, nonfiction). Please contact Tammi Anderson at tanderson937@comcast.net
Daytime Neighborhood Cooking Club
Posted on Sep 28, 2008 Comments (0)
There is a Neighborhood Cooking Club that meets monthly during the day with children welcome. The host picks the theme and we all bring a dish with a recipe. This has been active for over a year and we would love to get the word out to those new to the neighborhood or anyone not aware that we’re meeting. Please contact Tammi Anderson at tanderson937@comcast.net
